After last night 50 is way too much thinkin'. Probably can come up with 10-15. 1)Allmand Bros. Band. 2)Hendrix. 3(Miles Davis  4) Pink Floyd. 5) Cream. 6) John Lennon 7) Deep Purple 8) Led Zeppelin 9) Keith Jarret 10). Jaco Pastorius 11) John Coltrane 12) Billy Cobham 13) Roy Buchanan 14)  Bob Dylan 15). Only partial, however, this contains not only my most well-liked and respected bands/musicians, but the most influential. But hey, that's just me.

This is a fascinating discussion becuase of the variety of responses.  Great to see such diversity.  From day to day I would probably have  a different top 15 .... No Australian bands in there that I noticed.  We had a couple of exceptionally good prog bands in the early 70s that people in other countries have probably not heard of ..... Spectrum and Company Caine (a clever name when shortened to Co. Caine.) - they only made one full album called Product of a Broken Reality.
